Knight ties Dean Smith for most wins

12/24/2006 - Lubbock, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Texas Tech head coach Bob Knight tied the legendary Dean Smith for most career wins in NCAA Division I history after notching No. 879 in a 72-60 triumph over Bucknell on Saturday.

Knight now has the chance to set the new record of 880 career wins at home against UNLV on December 28.

Jarrius Jackson and Martin Zeno each netted 18 points to lead the Red Raiders (10-3), who have won four straight. Alan Voskuil added 15 points while Darryl Dora had 14 for the Red Raiders, who shot 52 percent from the field.

John Griffin led Bucknell (5-6) with 16 points and seven rebounds in the loss. The Bison came into the contest with a three-game winning streak. Donald Brown had 13 points and six rebounds while Chris McNaughton had 12 in the loss.

Bucknell pulled to within 42-39 in the early stages of the second half, but then missed its next 13 shots. The Red Raiders then put the game away with a 17-0 run where Jackson netted 10 straight points during the stretch.

Although the Golden Bears are listed as 7.5-point favorites, the Sun Devils are 3-0, lead the nation in sacks with 18 and possess the Pac-10's leading passer in sophomore quarterback Rudy Carpenter.

Academy Award Betting Odds for Best Picture Offer Great Value

If there is any category that is not an obvious win for any one nominee in this year's Academy Awards, it would be for Best Picture.  Sure the Departed is a 5/7 favorite, but that's hardly anything when we look at Helen Mirren and her "out-of-reach" 1 to 40 odds (which means you would win a whopping $1 for every $40 bet).

Who is to say independently produced Little Miss Sunshine won't be this year's Crash.  Last year, Crash won for Best Motion Picture, shocking those who bet on gay cowboy flick, Brokeback Mountain, as the favorite to win.
