04/24/2010 - Boston, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Marco Scutaro and Kevin Youkilis each hit three- run homers during a six-run seventh inning, as the Boston Red Sox edged the lowly Baltimore Orioles, 7-6, in the middle installment of a three-game series at Fenway Park.
Jason Varitek also hit a home run for the Red Sox, who won 4-3 in the opener of this series on Friday. Boston has won four of five since a five-game skid with all those victories coming by a run.
John Lackey (2-1) went seven innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks to pick up the win. He improved to 9-3 in 13 appearances against Baltimore. Jonathan Papelbon collected his fifth save of the season despite giving up a run in the ninth.
Ty Wigginton went 4-for-5 with a solo homer for the Orioles, who dropped their fifth straight game and are an MLB-worst 2-16 on the young season. Adam Jones also hit a solo homer for Baltimore, which fell short despite scoring three times in the ninth.
Starter Brian Matusz went six-plus frames, giving up three runs on six hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Matt Albers (0-3) allowed three runs on two hits while recording just one out in the seventh.
Trailing 3-1, the Red Sox scored six runs in the seventh to go in front. Bill Hall walked and Jeremy Hermida singled, chasing Matusz from the contest. Albers came in from the bullpen and got pinch-hitter David Ortiz to go down looking. Scutaro stepped to the plate and smacked the ball over the Green Monster to give Boston a 4-3 edge.
Dustin Pedroia doubled down the right field line before Victor Martinez walked. Kam Mickolio then took over on the hill, but Youkilis greeted him with a three-run homer to left to make it 7-3.
Baltimore stranded runners on second and third in the eighth.
The Orioles made things interesting in the ninth. Ramon Ramirez, who recorded the last out in the eighth, stayed on for the ninth. Jones hit a one-out, home run to left-center. Nick Markakis then doubled to center, chasing Ramirez from the contest.
Papelbon took over on the mound and immediately gave up a single to Miguel Tejada. Matt Wieters and Luke Scott followed with RBI base hits to cut the gap to 7-6. Papelbon, though, got Wigginton and Rhyne Hughes to go down swinging to end the game.
Baltimore drew first blood with a pair of runs in the second inning. Wieters led off with a single and scored on Scott's double off the Green Monster. Wigginton followed with a base hit to center to put men on the corners. Hughes stepped to the plate for the first time in his career and laced an RBI single to right. Cesar Izturis flied out and Lou Montanez grounded into a double play to end the frame.
Varitek led off the fifth with a homer to center, cutting the deficit to 2-1. After putting runners on first and second with two outs, Matusz got Pedroia to fly out to end the inning.
The O's responded in the sixth with a solo shot of their own. With one out, Wigginton blasted a Lackey offering over the wall in left-center to make it a 3-1 game.

NFL betting action is back! At MySportsbook, all of the pro football odds are posted for the NFC North. Check out how we see the four teams in this cloudy division stacking up this year in the chase for the playoffs! Green Bay Packers (+125) - With QB Aaron Rodgers leading the offense and DC Dom Capers working his magic on defense, the Packers are a real force to be reckoned with.
Virtually nothing changed on this offense for Green Bay from last year to this year, save for the addition of rookie OT Brian Bulaga to the bunch. Expect more huge numbers from the Pack, and a relatively favorable schedule should get them over the hump and into the playoffs once again this season. My NFL Betting Predictions: 11-5, 1st place in NFC North Minnesota Vikings (+130) - There are still too many unknowns about the Vikes this year. There is a huge difference between QB Brett Favre and either Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels under center. Plus, is Favre comes back, is he really going to be able to keep his pick total under double digits again? Depth at running back looked like it might have been an issue with RB Chester Taylor fleeing in free agency, but drafting RB Toby Gerhart should pick up the difference. This defense is still suitable, but with a first place schedule, making the playoffs is going to be very tough regardless of whether #4 comes back or not.

Chicago Bears (+350) - The Bears are probably a bit of an overhyped team once again this year. No, we don't think it is plausible for QB Jay Cutler to have as bad of a season as he did last year, and we do think the additions of RB Chester Taylor and DE Julius Peppers are going to help immensely, but there's still something in the water in the Windy City that we aren't so sure about. Maybe Chicago finds its way to .500... but then again, maybe it doesn't. If Favre comes back, Cutler might be the worst quarterback in this division this year.
Detroit Lions (+1500) - The Lions are probably once again going to be the whipping boys for the rest of the teams in the NFC North, but they aren't just going to roll over and die once again. There is some real talent amassing on this team offensively, as the combination of QB Matt Stafford, RB Jahvid Best, WR Calvin Johnson, and TE Brandon Pettigrew should put a bunch of points on the board if the offensive line can even remotely hold up. The questions really lie on defense, where it feels like DT Ndamukong Suh is going to be trying to stop opposing teams all by himself. This year should show some marked improvement in the Motor City.
The Patriots will make NFL betting fans a lot of money this season, get in early and enjoy the cash.
